The beautiful colonial house located in Praça das Forras, Tiradentes' main square, was built around 1720. According to tradition, it belonged to Dom Pedro de Almeida, the Count of Assumar. It is the largest civil construction in the city, with two floors and a stolen water. In the twentieth century, it was acquired from individuals to be the administrative headquarters of the municipality. In the 60s, it suffered an interference in the architectural part: a door was opened on the side of the house to serve as an entrance to the Secretary of Culture, Environment and Tourism. In the house also works the headquarters of the Post Office.
