Lunahuaná is located 38 km east of San Vicente de Cañete (Capital of the Province of Cañete) and 182 km southeast of Lima.

Lunahuaná, the tourist capital of Cañete, extends like a fertile strip of orchards and vineyards on both banks of the Cañete River and has become an excellent recreational alternative to visit any weekend.



It is also an ideal place to practice canoeing and mountain biking, among other adventure sports. The archaeological remains of Incahuasi and oral traditions that still recall the confrontation between Incas and locals and the establishment of colonial populations account for its past.





Due to its geography, Lunahuaná has an enviable microclimate that gives it sun all year round and enough flow to make its river navigable. Many people prefer to visit this beautiful valley during the months of January to March because they can enjoy the splendid sun and the harvest of the best fruits in this area. Also, this is the best season for canoeing since the river flow rises, therefore there are better rapids and more adrenaline.



It should be added that, during the last week of February, the International Adventure Sports Festival is held, which makes the visit more attractive since you can see the contestants participating in the various disciplines and enjoy a fellowship party .

Incahuasi Archaeological Remains Located at km 30 of the road to Yauyos, this city, whose name means ´´house of the Inca´´, consists of 4 groups of buildings. It was built during the middle of the 15th century.



Unanue Castle

Also known as Hacienda del Sur Chico or Hacienda Arona, it is located in San Vicente de Cañete, at km 145 of the Panamericana Sur. It was built in 1843 by José Unanue de la Cuba, son of the hero José Hipólito Unanue y Pavón, in memory of his father.



Pacarán

Located 10 km east of Lunahuaná and over 700 meters above sea level. This district of the province of Cañete produces medlars, grapes and piscos. Both in the river and in the nearby lagoons you can practice adventure sports, such as sport fishing.

Canoeing in Lunahuaná Canoeing in Lunahuaná takes place on the Cañete River, which in its path forms deep and narrow canyons that end in fertile and green valleys, such as Catahuasi, Zuñiga, Pacarán and Lunahuaná. There are two levels: beginner and advanced (depending on the level of the river) and in both cases participants must wear: life jacket, helmet and paddle. The trip will be carried out accompanied by a rafting guide, who must have experience and knowledge of first aid, he will give a technical talk and make known the orders that will be given during the tour. The referential price is S /. 35.00 per person.
