The plant began to be built in 1913, intended to supply electricity to the city of Lisbon from the transformation of coal. Its operations began five years later
Central Tejo, now requalified as Electricity Museum, is located on Avenida de Brasília, parish of Santa Maria de Belém, in the municipality and District of Lisbon, in Portugal.
An example of industrial archeology, the whole, owned by EDP, was renamed a museum in the late 1980s, and was inaugurated in 1991.
