The building reaches a height of 100 meters. Precisely on top a beautiful viewpoint was built that also serves as a cafeteria. It is one of the most important works of Ecuadorian neo-Gothic architecture. It stands out because its carvings represent the flora and fauna of the country
The Basilica of the National Vote is one of the most beautiful churches in the city. Its construction was promoted by Father Julio María Matovelle and the materials were brought from the San Juan neighborhood. The project was carried out by the French architect Emilio Tarlier, inspired by the cathedral in Bourges, made the plans between 1890 and 1896.
The church was consecrated in 1988, to commemorate the consecration of the Ecuadorian state to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Located on a steep hill northeast of the old city of Quito, it can be seen from any corner of the city, particularly at night when it is illuminated, resembling a lighthouse, in bright green and blue.

The Basilica is 140 meters long by 35 wide, 30 meters high in the central nave, 15 meters high in the 24 votive chapels, 74 meters cruise and is the largest church in Ecuador and throughout Latin America. The two front towers are 115 meters high and have 7 access doors, 3 on the facade and 4 sides, a solid Crypt and a Pantheon.
This construction differs from the others because of its neo-Gothic tendency, a style marked by the use of gargoyles as ornaments worldwide. The Basilica of the National Vote changes the neo-Gothic style using native flora and fauna that gives a different touch to this type of art.
Inside we can find a telescope with which you can see the entire center and south of the Ecuadorian capital with clarity and precision. You can also visit the condor tower and the clock tower and bell tower.
The name of the tower of the Condor is because its height is equal to the minimum reached by the condor on its flight. To reach it, it is necessary to cross a kind of suspension bridge that leads them to steep and narrow stairs. Here is the highest viewpoint in the Basilica.
On the other hand, in The Clock Tower and the Bell Tower, as the name implies, there is the clock machine that continues to work accurately and the four bells, of various sizes, that announce the hours with their bells. The entire tower is connected with long spiral-shaped stairs that allow it to reach the cross of the church.
