The Roman Bridge of Silves or Ponte Velha, whose reconstruction dates from the fifteenth century, could already exist during the Arab occupation, which some authors justify with the existence of vestiges of a Roman road nearby.
This bridge has the board supported by five round arches, whose pillars are protected by hoist.
