Founded in 1549, it is accessed via a steep staircase, mirroring the mysticism of the hill town overlooking the magnificent Tagus River, which is Lisbon.
The origins of its foundation are uncertain, thinking that it could have been based either by a group of Galician seamen or by a confraternity that would have been organized here in 1532 by friars of the Order of Christ.
Located on Calçada de Santo Amaro, Santo Amaro Chapel, National Monument since 1910, is one of the great treasures of the capital of Lisbon.
It was built in 1549 and is classified as a National Monument by the Decree dated July 16, 1910.
