The Spreebogenpark was the last building block of the landscape architecture design of the parliament and government district. It has a size of approx. 6 ha (60,000 m²); the total construction costs between approx. 9.8 million ¤. The costs of the federal government and the state of Berlin in the context of the joint task "Parliament and government district".
To design the open spaces in the parliament and government quarters, a business land planning competition was discontinued in 1996/97. The Weber and Saurer office from Switzerland, with its very different relative interactions topography and a different restrained design of the park, were among the jury members. After a construction period of 3 years, the park of the Berliners and the visitors of the city administration and north with its two inner gardens and the large meadow-sighted area became a recreation area.
