This family-run guest house is centrally located in the popular Bavarian mountain village of Reit im Winkl in the Chiemgau Alps, close to the Austrian border.

It is also an excellent starting point for exploring the many tourist attractions in southern Bavaria and nearby Austria.

Your hosts, who speak fluent English, will gladly give you tips and advice on the area, as well as recommendations for the nearby restaurants. Reit im Winkl is famous for its reliable snow. A network of over 80 kilometres of well prepared cross-country ski trails start from here. Two major alpine ski areas with over 16 lifts are within a 10-minute drive.

Hiking is very popular during the summer and can range from easy strolls to all day mountain hikes, starting right from the guest house. There are also plenty of mountain bike trails and bike rentals are available locally. In addition to the free swimming pools, several lakes offer swimming and sun bathing opportunities.

Many tourist destinations are within easy reach. Lake Chiemsee, with one of King Ludwig’s palaces (on the island of Herrenchiemsee), is about a 30-minute drive away. You can reach Munich, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Berchtesgaden and the Königsee lake in about an hour. Gästehaus Sonnenzeit is located at the foot of the south-facing Hausberg mountain, just a 2 minute walk from the town centre. This makes it both quiet and central.

All guests staying at Gästehaus Sonnenzeit may use the local swimming pools free of charge. These include the Reit im Winkl indoor pool and outdoor solar-heated pool with a 105-metre slide, an outdoor pool in nearby Kössen, and the Walchsee (lake) in the summer.
