In the Nièvre. Burgundy. just outside the village of Marigny sur Yonne and on the edge of the Morvan Forest. lies Le Champ Radis.Le Champ Radis is a small holiday park (appr. 8000m2) with 4 chalets. beautifully situated on the Nivernais Canal. between meadows and woods. Beside the Canal flows the river the Yonne.On the Park there is a bar-restaurant. a swimmingpool (6 x 12 m) and for the children a trampoline.The chalets are each suitable for up to 5 persons. They all have a lounge/kitchen. bathroom with shower. toilet and sink and 2 bedrooms (1 x bed 1.60 x 2.00 m. 1 x bed 1.40 x 2.00 m. 1 x bed 0.90 x 2.00 m.On the frontside there is a covered terrace overlooking the valley of the Canal and the Yonne.The inner-surface is 41 m2. The terrace 17 m2.One of the holiday homes is fully adapted for wheelchair-users. So is the bar-bistro.The bar-bistro with terrace offers a great vue over the valley of the Canal and the Yonne.Environment:The park is surrounded by hilly meadows and woods. At 300 m. you find the Nivernais Canal with its many locks. where you can enjoywalking. cycling and fishing. The Canal of Nivernais is among the nicest of Europe.Next to the Canal the Yonne flows. where can be fished on trout.At 5 km you will find Corbigny. a pretty town with its beautiful 18th century Abbey. There is a shoppingstreet. the little fridaymarket andevery second tuesday of the month a large market.There are 2 supermarkets (Aldi and Atac). baker. butcher. bank. little shops and restaurants.In August “Les Fêtes Musicales” are organized. 5 classical concerts in the courtyard of the Abbey.Also in August there are the annual 2 Fleadays (Brocante). They are wellknown.At 18 km you find the lake “Étang de Baye et Vaux”. near to La Collancelle. from where you can make lovely boattrips on the lakeand along the Canal. This is really worth your while. because at La Collancelle there are 3 large tunnels in the Canal. of which thelongest is 758 meter. You can sail there too. At the lake there is a little strand.Other lakes in the neighbourhood: Lac Chaumeçon (20 km). Lac Pannecière (reservoir. 30 km) with strand. Lac Des Settons(reservoir. 40 km) where you can go water-skiing. boatpedalling or make a boattrip.The departement of the Nièvre is rich in castles. many of which can be visited. like Bazoches (15 km) and Villemolin (10 km).Worth a visit is Guédelon in Treigny (60 km). where a new castle is being made with materials and tools from the Middle Ages.At 35 km lies Vézelay. known as a place of pilgrimage and part of the pilgrimsroute to Santiago de Compostella.Here is the Basilique of Vézelay. Sainte Madeleine. a construction from the 11th century. Is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage.Other nice places: Clamecy (25 km). Nevers (60 km. city of porcelain). Auxerre at 70 km mwith o.a. the Abbey of Saint Germain. where. in de crypt the oldest frescoes of Europa (850AD) are being kept. Avallon at 40 km (nice saturdaymorningmarket). La Charité sur Loire (60 km. city of books). Sancerre at 80 km and Pouilly sur Loire at 65 km. both beautiful wineregions.Activities:Fishing in the Canal or in the Yonne (trout) or the surrounding lakes.Canoeing on the Yonne (15 km). Ballooning (Montgolfière Vezelay).At Avallon (40 km) there is a large activitypark with a treeclimbingcircuit (Parcours Aventure). You can play paintball. canoeing on the river Cure. climbing. horsbackriding etc. (www.loisirsenmorvan.com).Many vide-greniers are organized around. always fun to do.And. last. but not least. on the road to Corbigny (3 km) there is a nightclub!
