Its cultural character is bestowed by a tradition of 9,000 years, graphically represented in the presence of Aymara communities and pre-Hispanic villages, which live with lakes, salt flats, volcanoes and highland lagoons at 4500 meters above sea level. .

The contemplation of flora and fauna is one of the favorite activities for tourists, where you can see forests of queñoa and llaterales, as well as alpacas, llamas and a wonderful bird composed by the three species of flamingo that inhabit the place. .

Sports are also possible, with climbing being the favorite with the climb to the summits of Lauca National Park, among which stand out the Payachatas (Parinacota and Pomerade Volcano, more than six thousand meters high) and Nevado de Putre or Tarapacá with 5500 meters.



Lauca National Park, unique in the world, declared a world reserve by UNESCO, for being the richest lake in flora and fauna of the Andean ecosystem: Lake Chungará, 4,570 meters high.

There are several trails in the park that allow you to appreciate the majesty of the pre-mountain range and the plateau, including its landscape, vegetation and fauna. One is the 8-km Cotacotani excursion trail and the 100-meter Chungará trail.
