In Andahuaylas, the imposing infrastructure of the Church built in the seventeenth century stands out, according to some historical data narrate that it took 30 years to be built, the material that has been used is the Sillar stone, which is preserved until today.

It is the only temple in the city of Andahuaylas originally named as the Iglesia San Pedro la grande, it consists of a unique spiral staircase that leads to the bell tower, a large cross carved in ashlar stone also stands out in this beautiful church.

In its main porticoes finely carved stone ornaments can be seen. The main Altar, sides of the temple, the saints in parts are made up of sheets of gold and silver, there are also religious paintings of great antiquity. The construction of the temple lasted 32 years, having been completed in the year 1,633.



The Parish of San Pedro de Andahuaylas, serves an approximate of 24 thousand parishioners, a large part of the parish residing in the rural part. The main reason why the rural area is more populated is because of the dedication to agricultural activity.

The most outstanding religious festival is that of the New Year's Child Jesus (January 1), this festival welcomes an average of 15 thousand devotees-parishioners from different jurisdictions. On the other hand, the patronal feast of "San Pedro" still tries to regain its importance.
