Sierra Negra is a large volcano on the southeastern tip of Isabela Island in the Galápagos, which rises to an altitude of 1124m. It joins the Cerro Azul volcanoes to the west and Alcedo to the north. It is one of the most active of the Galapagos volcanoes, with the most recent historical eruption in June 2018.
Guided tours to the volcano generally start at Puerto Villamil and cross the edge of the caldera along its east side before heading to the lava fields northeast of the main crater.
