Tuluá did not have a founding document. The year of 1639 has historically been adopted as the year of the beginning of the Tuluá farm because in the historical archives of Buga there is a letter sent by Don Juan de Lemus and Aguirre, owner of the lands between the Tuluá and Morales rivers, and in that then mayor of Buga, requesting permission to open the road to Barragán, now a town of Tuluá.
Tuluá acquires the quality of Municipality on May 30, 1825. with the installation of the first Municipal Council, thus beginning its political-administrative organization. Tuluá "Indigenous Voice", which means "EASY LAND", affectionately called the Heart of the Valley, for its geographical location or also known as La Villa de Céspedes.

Tuluá has always been a strategic place in the center of Valle del Cauca, a department located in western Colombia. Currently, Tuluá is the most important intermediate city in Colombia, ranking, despite not being the capital, among its first twenty cities.
With a population of approximately 200,000 inhabitants, Tuluá is the beating heart of an area that encompasses fifteen municipalities, with a total of no less than 600 thousand inhabitants, which give it the character of a city-region, becoming a commercial and service meeting point, a must for this area of the country.
Tuluá has various access routes and contact with all the peoples of the region; It is located on the route of the Pan-American highway, its geographical location is strategic due to its equidistance to capital cities such as Cali at 100 km, Armenia at 105 km, Pereira at 125 km and Buenaventura, the most important port on the Pacific Ocean in Colombia at 172 km; also counting on the Farfán Airport that serves as a link with the airport system of the Medellín -Bogotá-Cali axis.
It also enjoys the different services offered by the telephone and electricity networks, with regional coverage, that is, it is permanently connected and communicates Colombia with the world. We are a plural, diverse and cosmopolitan people, industrious and communicative, which stands out for its vigorous commercial, educational and service activity, and is emerging as a leader in sustainable human development in the region.
Tuluá currently complies with an agenda of national and international connectivity that promotes business promotion, employment and associativity, in the same way that it contributes to the strengthening of the new rurality and eco-tourism. We work hard on projects aimed at the social and economic improvement of the rural population, especially those who have been displaced by violence, and on actions aimed at the socio-economic improvement of urban communities, as well as in the design of a plan of civic culture in the interest of strengthening respect for norms and human rights among its inhabitants.
Tuluá has agricultural and livestock populations located in the middle and high mountain areas, because although its urban area is located over 960 meters above sea level, in its mountain range it reaches up to 4400 meters above sea level at the summit of the Amoyá páramo, where they are also born, seven great rivers and more than 70 streams, water being its main strategic resource. The heart of the valley is a powerhouse in the production of fruit, coffee and sugar cane, it is included in the productive chain of blackberry and lulo, currently it has the second national juice production company that exports fruit pulp up to the African and Asian continents. It also has a sugar mill that produces sulfited sugar and an industry that produces flour with various cereals, as well as the most traditional and important yeast production company in Colombia.
Among its sites of tourist and scientific interest is the Juan María Céspedes Botanical Garden, just 20 minutes from the city center, a seedbed of 400 tree species in the region and a bank of guadua, bamboo and exotic flowers of the largest in America. Latina, which is why we are currently working to turn it into a theme park that serves as a tourist attraction, a natural museum and a research laboratory for generations growing up in Colombia.
The city has one of the most solid infrastructures in terms of protection and security, it is enough to count among its agents the “Simón Bolívar” Police School, the III Police District Command, the Anti-narcotics Base and the Palacé Battalion. Likewise, it has a whole network of emergency care coordinated by the Local Committee for Attention and Disaster Prevention in which the Fire Department, the Civil Defense, the Red Cross and the Search and Rescue Group have participation, among others, relief agencies dedicated to ensuring citizen tranquility.
Technological development also plays a determining role in Tuluá: located in the Central University of Valle del Cauca, is Parquesoft, one of the most ambitious projects to generate employment and provide software services on an international scale, in the same way that, in The Universidad del Valle Tuluá headquarters is a business incubator supported by various local and international agencies. Both are aimed at opening new spaces for the provision of services and the generation of employment.
The Tuluá Fair is the most important commercial and popular event in western Colombia, in which samples of agricultural and industrial machinery, artisanal, micro-business, equine, livestock, pig, small animal, flower and tropical ornamental plants are gathered. , and at the same time it serves as a space for recreation, carnival and an annual meeting place between friends and visitors, becoming the great commercial and business showcase of the central Valle del Cauca region. The Fair is visited by almost half a million people every year, coming from very different points of the national geography.

Tuluá's climate is tropical, the average temperature is 26 to 28ºC. The days are sunny and the nights cool. Its climate allows the sowing of a large number of fruits and vegetables.
How to get
By land, taking the Pan-American Highway; By sea you can reach the Buenaventura port, in the Pacific Ocean and from there by paved road to Buga and then to Tulúa, you can also reach the ports of Cartagena, Barranquilla and Santa Marta located in the Pacific Ocean and from there by paved road to Tulúa; by air through the El Dorado de Bogotá, Alfonso Bonilla Aragón de Cali airports, the Matecaña de Pereira airport and other nearby airports.

La Arenosa Waterfall in Mateguadua

Juan María Céspedes Botanical Garden

Chilicotte Lake
It is located in the urban area of the municipality between the Sajona and Pueblo Nuevo neighborhoods, towards the south-west of the city, it has beautiful sunsets, you can see a number of white herons that nest in a tree, located in the center of the lake. The lake is surrounded by a park, with trails and places to rest. It is very visited by couples and by fishermen.
Carlos Sarmiento Lora Park
It is located at the southern entrance to Tuluá. Semi-Olympic pool with playgrounds, soccer fields, multiple fields for micro soccer, volleyball and basketball.
Churches and chapels
Chapel of Ingenio San Carlos
Its construction corresponds to the colonial period, it is perfectly preserved, with its walls in Bahareque (a system and technique for the construction of houses made with interwoven sticks of reeds and mud) and brick floors.
It is built on what was the first sugar mill of Ingenio San Carlos.
Chapel of Santo Aparecido
It is located in the Tres Esquinas district, 10 minutes from the city center. This destination is part of the Holy Week religious route. In the chapel there is a porcelain sculpture that reflects the Christ descended from the Cross, a sculpture that was found 105 years ago by a Tulueña peasant woman and is venerated for the miracles that have been granted to his believers.
