It is located near 2,600 meters above sea level, in the upper part of a valley whose river, the Tambohuaycco, is a tributary of the Apurímac river. The valley offers a very particular panorama to the visitor, due to the intense whitish green color given by the excellent quality anise crops and very famous in the region, which is why Curahuasi is also called the Anise Capital of the World.
Curahuasi is a rural town in the Peruvian Andes, located between the city of Cusco and Abancay. It is one of the 9 districts of the Province of Abancay, Department of Apurimac.
It is postulated that his name is of Spanish Quechua origin and means Casa del Cura; Another translation would be that cura comes from ccora which means grass or bush in Quechua and huasi is house, altogether it would be something like valley of herbs or house of herbs; It is presumed that in this valley there were many classes, from curative to edible.
